LotR, the RPG Campaign

I read this years ago to much amusement, but lost track of where it was. Thankfully, it was found for me (by the Finder even), thus I must share: http://www.geocities.com/sca_bard/World/lotrrpg.html

Updates

After a week off, I feel pretty good in general. The trip to Albuquerque went well. We watched the Isotopes win twice, picked up a free binder, had a few of the 22-odd-thousand 50-cent hot dogs sold Monday night, and generally had a good time away from home. The stadium is pretty nice, though I do miss the old one in some ways. We even hit the museum of natural history which had a fairly new section set up about the origins of computers. I finally got a replacement shifter for my bike installed yesterday and rode it back home. Oy. It works, that's good. Coming out of town it's a long haul that's almost entirely uphill to some degree. I made it in sixteen minutes. It was a hard push, though, as stopping pedalling for more than a few seconds on a rare slope down would mean coming to a halt in short order. So I kept going as solidly as I could and was panting pretty damn hard for the last third or so. I know I can do it, but there's shaping up to be done before I consi...

Only in Your Dreams

Odd dream this afternoon that made more sense (in it's own way) than usual. In a Musketeering era (with elements of romance, revenge, and intrigue that I was vaguely aware of), a man was fulfilling some prophecy that involved rescuing a wounded animal and being at the city docks at night with a metal trash can. He knew he was supposed to use this trash can as some sort of boat, but without any real idea how or where he was going. Then a figure stepped out of the shadows behind, shooting him in the back with a pistol. He fell into the trash can, which in turn rolled off into the water, drifting away... But this was okay, because he survived, the evil consortium thought him dead, and he would return with the freedom to act behind the scenes as he was believed dead. Then I was a GM outside the game, talking to the players about the scene and asking how much longer they wanted to play the campaign so as to gauge how much work I needed to do. It seemed as though we were in college...

Vacation?

A small one, at least. It looks like I'll be going to Albuquerque with my dad this coming weekend, leaving Sunday and coming back Tuesday sometime. This is something we used to do once in a while - a "guys" trip down there to watch a game or two of minor league baseball and have a chance to be in a "big city." Looking forward to this.

Note to Self

If you bitch about something a friend is remotely involved in, they are likely to be upset. It's always so much easier just to shut the hell up and not say anything - it beats having to console and encourage. No matter how valid my points may or may not be, I end up suffering an emotional gutting for voicing my thoughts. Not worth it.

(no subject)

Picked up a helmet, and lights in case I decide to ride at night... but I haven't actually ridden my bike much yet. I'm waiting on a shifter to come in so I can actually change primary gears. That'll be another $25 give or take. I may be spending a couple days on a trip to Albuquerque with my dad to catch a Minor League baseball game or two. We haven't done that in years, and it's a good excuse to get away from things briefly. And I'm trying to wrap my mind around things in roleplaying. Maybe I'm just less flexible than I used to be, but some of this gives me a headache. Okay, so we've a fantasy world that is not only polytheistic, but polypantheonic (if that's a word). In real life, that "works" because no one knows for sure - oh, they might believe and have unwavering faith, but I've yet to see any convincing proof that Event X is a result of divine intervention. In the game, that's not the case. Divine-created miracles happ...

It's Going to Be One of Those Weeks

I can tell. Upset friends online while trying to keep up with an adventure there. No offline game this week. Multiple ongoing/unresolved issues at work while my co-tech is away for three days. Problems with web sites I shouldn't have anything to do with. Work consists of scrambling awkwardly through unfamiliar setups until I get a point... and then waiting for the next bit of information I need before I can scramble some more. I have a headache. My neck and shoulders are tense. Mrrf. So need a vacation.
