(WoW) Visiting the Huntsman

As an experiment, I delved into Karazhan tonight (with a little help in making a raid group, but otherwise solo) just to get to Attumen. He has a mount rare drop, and I'm curious how farmable he is for my level 80 paladin. Conclusions?

Doable. I died a couple times on the trash due to getting into groups of 4+ at a time. One pull is a group of 5, which makes that... tricky. Killing the horses after the stablehands seems the way to go, and I think that tactic will help things go most smoothly, though it's still slow killing them. The biggest problem were the fears from the horses and the stun/knockdown effects from the stablehands - in both cases, I end up taking a lot more damage because I can't block.

Attumen was about the same. The toughest, and longest, stretch was fighting him and Midnight side-by-side. Midnight has a stun that made me a lot more vulernable for its duration, leaving me scrambling to heal afterward (and trying to remember to turn off Divine Plea manually before healing and put it back up after). It took a bit, but I got through that phase. Once he mounts, it's simply a matter of going through the rotation until he eventually dies. Lengthy, but easy after that point. I could tell I'm not hit-capped on them either, as I could see my hammer missing a moderate amount. No mount drop, though.

  1. I've been tempted to try that myself... As well as farming The Raven Lord in outland.

  2. I have thought of trying to go for the Raven Lord mount, but first I'd have to complete the quest chain... so probably not going to happen anytime soon. Mounts, for me, are fairly superfluous and I don't quite understand the collection and 'show-off' appeal. IMO, my Druids epic flight form is the best mount in the game - why would I want anything else.

  3. It seems like that should be easier (5-man content versus 10-man). 'course I can't actually solo that myself, not being a druid. ;.;

  4. Pfft. My charger is the best mount in the game! It just doesn't fly. >.> ;) I'm not exactly obsessive about mounts and such, but sometimes I feel a need to go after some little "achievement" even if it doesn't have a mechanical benefit - just for variety. In this case, a large part of it was finding out if I actually could do it myself. That confirmed, I don't think I'll go running back there every raid reset, but I may visit once in a while when I'm looking for something else to do.

  5. Yeah I understand that. I keep telling myself I'm going to head down to Silithus and kill things until I have enough books or tomes or whatever to turn in for the Guardian of Cenarius title, but with my actual hours played this summer seeming to dwindle and dwindle to lesser amounts - the likelihood dwindles too. I think the fact is, I can't realistically grind for anything. I need to go for things that give me more immediate reward. Then again, soloing a boss just to see if it's possible? That'd be kind of fun. Also, I have wanted to head into some of the BC dungeons I never saw like Serpentshire, Magtherion, Black Temple... heck even the Troll one that came later (the name escapes me).
