Another Week...

Odd mindset. Difficult to focus. I didn't sleep well last night and I've a distractingly twitchy muscle in my shoulder this morning, but what can ya do?

I've been reading a lot the last month or more, and I perceive a difference that is a mixed blessing. On the one hand, I tend to feel more inspired and creative, being subjected to ideas from other sources, and it's a great way to fill downtime on quiet work nights. On the other hand, I frequently feel compelled to finish books which keeps me up late and draws my attention away from other things. Aieee.

When we finished the Star Wars session last week, I thought "gee, two weeks is a long time to leave this." Now, I'm wondering if I was hasty in saying I'd try to run this week if schedule permits. Of course, I don't know if my schedule permits me to be free Thursday night yet, but my ideas for the next session remain in flux. I'd really rather be fleshing out some detail. We'll see.

I see an odd direction on Furryfaire. There seems to be a push from multiple sources to "overthrow" a nation. Now, change isn't unfamiliar to me there, but it usually happens rather abruptly and at GM/headwiz whim. "Poof, you're a god." "City X blew itself to hell." "There's now a canal system to the sea from what used to be a landlocked state."
This time, it seems more gradual and - just maybe - more player-driven. Mind you, some of those players may still have been nudged in that direction, I'm unsure. I find it interesting to watch, though I'm not sure I consider it "realistic" given the usually-presented paradigm of the world involves the constant presence of NPC characters who are more powerful than even the more ridiculously over-pointed PCs. The typical response to a high-powered PC who has been dubbed a paragon taking on a nation would be to have a more-powerful NPC who's also a paragon smack them down.
It's even more interesting because I've felt the need to further develop an off-screen character (who I consider more of an un-statted PC than NPC) who could be involved, albeit more in what comes after than the transition itself.
