Updates

After a week off, I feel pretty good in general.

The trip to Albuquerque went well. We watched the Isotopes win twice, picked up a free binder, had a few of the 22-odd-thousand 50-cent hot dogs sold Monday night, and generally had a good time away from home. The stadium is pretty nice, though I do miss the old one in some ways. We even hit the museum of natural history which had a fairly new section set up about the origins of computers.

I finally got a replacement shifter for my bike installed yesterday and rode it back home. Oy. It works, that's good. Coming out of town it's a long haul that's almost entirely uphill to some degree. I made it in sixteen minutes. It was a hard push, though, as stopping pedalling for more than a few seconds on a rare slope down would mean coming to a halt in short order. So I kept going as solidly as I could and was panting pretty damn hard for the last third or so. I know I can do it, but there's shaping up to be done before I consider it "easy" in any way.
