How the Heck

When a laptop is sent back for repairs, I can see a certain sequence of events. Obviously, parts need to be tested, starting with the reported problem. When the report includes a failed hard drive, naturally you'll want to start there and (upon confirming the problem) replace it. So how does someone replace the hard drive and NOT put the cover back over it. Heck, it even has one of the rubber "feet" on it, so the laptop wobbles while typing without it. One plastic plate and a couple small screws - it's not like we're talking a lot of work here. And yet, that's exactly how we got one of our repaired laptops back at work. The mind boggles.

Picture if you will...

... a July fourth afternoon. In a park (Buckley, for those of you who would know), there's a crowd of people and a sort of inflatable amphitheater. And playing music is a group of four twelve-year-olds. They're doing quite a good job, even - better than most recreational bands I've heard. Give them some original song writing and I wouldn't be surprised if they had a professional future in music. Then they break into Bowling for Soup's "1985." I like the song, and it was played well, but there's something a bit wrong with hearing kids sing that when they weren't born for some nine years after. Still... it was greatly entertaining.
