Every now and then ...

... I am reminded that I'm really not paid enough. So I got called this morning at 6:20 or so. This isn't all that much earlier than my alarm clock is set for, but it's at least an hour before I expect myself to be at all coherent. Mysteriously disappearing desktop icons preventing our early morning circulation employee from finding the program she needed - something I could have walked her through fixing had I truly been awake. Of course, my oversight wasn't apparent until I was throwing myself through a quick show. By that time, it hardly seemed worthwhile to go back to sleep, so I just finished my abbreviated routine and got myself to work to fix it myself. Simple enough. 'course then I discover our internet connection is spotty and our mail/web servers are unresponsive. This, in spite of what several people seem to think, is usually beyond my ability to do anything about. I placed calls with our ISP. Unfortunately, it suffers from "two guys in a room&qu

Is it a bad sign when a massage therapist says you need a vacation? Of course, I can't afford a cruise like she suggested, but still...

Web Comics

Okay, most of you who will read this have your own list of web comics you track. Well, there's a couple from my list, that may not be on yours, I'd like to take this opportunity to share. Jack - www.pholph.com - I've been following this one for a couple years now. It struck quite a chord with me at the time, and it hasn't let up. Furry characters, Heaven and Hell, plots, life, death... It *usually* isn't graphic, but it is very much a 'mature' comic. It's definitely one of my favorites. As great as I think it is, though, it may not be for everyone. Some of the storylines could be too depressing for those who are overly-sensitive or in a poor mood. Tales of the Questor - npc.keenspace.com - This one I just ran across tonight and went through the archives. The art and presentation are quite charming. It's a bit more geared toward 'general audiences.' A good story for everyone who's wanted to be a hero "like in the stories."

Do I get XP if it was a dream?

This morning, I woke up from a dream in which I was roleplaying. There were perhaps eight to ten of us involved in the game, and I don't remember any of them as specific individuals. We were playing... Digimon? o.o; The characters were all pretty young, which fits, but they were also at the control of giant robots which the digimon I've seen generally aren't, but that's what they were' in my dream-game. Two of the party members had been charmed/mind controlled and my character was busy trying to knock some sense into one of them with a lack of success. I guess my character was pretty out-classed by his bespelled friend, because there was a great deal of suspense as I was making some sort of defense roll. Failure would be baaad. I came up with a 19, though, and managed to fend off the blow. My stated action was something like (with appropriate pantomiming): "'What *crunch* the hell *crackrip* has gotten into you?!' I say, picking up a building and thro
