Weekend Star Wars

I've still been enjoying Book of Boba Fett's flashback Fett much more than the "present" Fett. The flashbacks show a resilience to the character, which is good. And his arc with the sand people, though predictable, is solid. As a budding crime boss, however, he seems clumsy and lacks the cunning of the bounty hunter who followed and headed off Han Solo back in Empire.

But yeah, episode five has probably been my favorite, and it's basically a Mandalorian episode. The Creed is still kind of screwed up and the Darksaber is a big plot device with quirks all its own, but neither of those things that bother me a little are new. I liked the starfighter more than I thought I would, and "Mando" is still a character I like.

I also went and watched SW: Visions. As expected of an anthology, it's something of a mixed bag, but I think overall I enjoyed more than I expect.

The Duel: The artwork put me off a little at first, but I got into it. The wandering ronin's little reveal won me over in a "this is perfect for Kurosawa-style storytelling" kind of way.

Tatooine Rhapsody: Not really my jam, but cute and not a bad story little story. Chibi Boba Fett is amusing.

The Twins: Hyper-stylized, but for all the flash, I wasn't particularly interested.

The Village Bride: I like the look and feel this one could have benefitted from being fleshed out a bit more.

The Ninth Jedi: Ooo. Probably tied for favorite of the bunch for me. Several cool concepts at play - I actually sort of wish that sabers changing color to match a wielder's inclinations was canon. It was twisty enough to actually catch me off guard, which I appreciate, even though I had some suspicions. I think it works as a short, and I wouldn't mind seeing more of the characters/scenario either.

T0-B1: Back to "not really my thing." It's cute, it's fine, but nothing really grabbed me.

The Elder: A solid little story of Jedi and padawan.

Lop and Ocho: My other fave and the story I most wish had more time to breathe and develop. As it stands, the family division and confrontation go by way too quickly and don't reach a final resolution, but the characters are setting make me wish I could see more at a "proper" pacing.

Akakiri: A bit dark/tragic and didn't really pull me in.
