Video Games...

The Long Dark remains my go-to background game. The first couple chapters of the story mode were enjoyable enough, though there's a bit of a disconnect when having to gather a bunch of supplies for one of the few NPCs you enounter. Comparatively, the survival mode is all about you. I'm still learning some things about it, and I find it enjoyable, if quiet.

I'm easing back on Secret World Legends play. Transitioning from blue to purple gear feels like a pretty steep climb, and some of the later content in Transylvania and Tokyo is a bit rough to solo at that gear level, it seems. So the game's feeling a little more grindy at the moment. I've considered paying a month to be a "patron," but the rewards are surprisingly unmotivating to me. Lockbox keys and a few extra skill points seem unlikely to make much difference in the experience.

GW2: Path of Fire is out at the end of September, which otherwise looks like a fairly bleak month for new releases from my perspective. I've heard and seen a few good things, and expect to start trying out the Deadeye rifle thief spec. But I don't think I can say I'm "excited" for the expansion. More content is good, but I don't really see anything that's going to radically rejuvinate my gameplay or draw in a bunch of new people. I hope for a chance to finish the latest living story before PoF, but I don't know if that'll happen. Then again, I don't think I've even finished off Mordremoth in my own instance yet. Heh.

WoW gets a new patch today. I suppose that may be my primary game-of-interest for the next few weeks, so I should be thankful. Argus should be entertaining enough for a time. It'll be good to finally see some characters and the "Army of Light." This still all feels like finale/swan-song material for WoW, though, which is odd to me.

I've been looking into Destiny 2 a fair bit. The first one got a lot of attention for being a deeply-flawed, but improved-upon Bungie release. As it was console-only, though, I never played it. With 2 coming out on PC (though in late October, almost two months after the console release), it's something I could play. It sounds like the sequel is a bit more solo-friendly, which is good for me. I can't really decide on whether I find the lore to be genius or pure crazy.
Mysterious massive orb, The Traveler, arrives and somehow ushers in technological advancement age of mankind. Baddies somehow connected to/serving "The Darkness" arrive and murder most people. The Traveler "sacrifices" itself to same humanity, going largely inert, but scattering mini-drone "Ghosts" that go around resurrecting and empowering people as "Guardians" to fight these bad aliens and protect humankind. Some of these enemies include things like a time-spanning hive mind species with one or more weapons capable of wiping people out of existence across time. At least one time traveler seems to come back and influence the course of events through the first game...
That's a lot of "whaaaaat?" So you play a techno-space-zombie fighting against minions of "The Darkness." Uh... 'kay.
But it seems like a decent action shooter with MMORPG-ish elements. That could be fun. We'll see how things look after the much closer console release, I think.

October is also due to have:
- Middle-earth: Shadows of War (probably a play, maybe not on release)
- The Evil Within 2 (probably a watch, but not play)
- Assassin's Creed Origins (maybe a play, unsure)
- Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus (probably a play)
