(WoW) The Real 6.0
So, the Warlords of Draenor alpha has begun. That still doesn't make me think it'll be released before October, and it still doesn't decide whether I'm going to take up regular play again. It also heralds the release of early patch 6.0 notes.
There's a lot of info there, and it's early enough we can expect a lot of details to change. Shifting gears on professions leaves me with probably the biggest feeling of "Um... what?" I know all the details have to be worked out, and tweaks will be done, and all that, but it's one little thing that bugs me.
The phrase that comes to mind is "clipped wings." I approve of simplifying the huge number of abilities in the game, but I don't want to lose such an iconic effect/ability just because I'm in Protection spec. *sniffle*

Paladin
Avenging Wrath is now only available to Retribution Paladins.

They were awfully vague about "Professions will not have combat advantages". I assume that means no bonus health from mining, crit from skinning and the haste/heal from herbalism. You're not the only one losing "iconic" abilities because of your spec choice. As an arcane Mage, I no longer get either Blizzard or Flamestrike, so have to stand in the middle of a mosh pit to AoE with Arcane Explosion. :P That said, it's possible Paladin of all spec will still get to 'pop wings' with some ability of theirs.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I get they're probably just dropping those bonus from professions, but it seems a little odd at this stage. And it probably applies to things like the jewelcrafter "eye" gems, extra sockets, specific threads, and so on. But... professions have been getting less and less "special," losing specializations and the nearly-best-in-slot set stuff back in BC. Of course, the bottom line for it all it "wait and see."
