Random Update
Well, let's see... Wednesday already of a week taken off from work and I haven't accomplished much. But then, I didn't have any major goals or plans. Going anywhere is too expensive and/or serves no purpose. Mostly, I just needed to spend some vacation time because I have been at the cap and losing some over the last couple months.
It'll probably be another week, maybe week-and-a-half before I get my new computer, so I'm watching me old one closely and keeping the case open to keep it cooled. The PSU fan is not working well, and that cuts down on ventilation, which gets to be a bit of problem in some circumstances.
I'm not sure what to say about Saturday's WoW in general. It takes an alignment of stars these days to even get 10 people on and even with the slight nerf to 5.0 raids, 8 (one of which is a healer) isn't gonna be enough. I'm not even sure that's a solid group for Ulduar. This past weekend, we did manage to join in on an assault on the world boss Oondasta. With the new tag-to-faction feature, our group could join in and get credit without joining other raids. That fight was silly, though, with no finesse at all and just throwing a stupid (with cross-server groups, I think there were three or more full 40-man raids) amount of people at the boss until it died.
5.2 is out, which has added some new, gated daily content and a new raid that I only really expect to see through LFR as it's opened up. The dailies are a big dense, but generally not bad. LFR drops are a minor step up from 5.0 LFR raid drops (and about three steps down from 5.2 normal), which means some upgrades, but not very exciting ones in most cases. The raid-based reputation has lots of better valor gear, but getting rep will take a long time. Overall, the patch is fine, I guess, but there's nothing there that strikes me as both 1) good and 2) attainable enough to really sink my teeth into and go after.
GW2 has added some guild challenge content, but I'm fuzzy on how it works and haven't seen any of it. I'm still helping with personal quest progress on Sundays. Since Friday put our server into the next WVW bracket up, I've been avoiding WVW maps a lot, though - the opposition out there is a lot more populous. It's interesting to see how much the dynamics can change between tiers, but kind of sad that there's so little fluctuation. We're either dominating at the top of one tier or struggling at the bottom of the next, and it would take something major for the rankings to be shaken up any more than that.
I've been keeping up with daily and monthly achievements, and picked up and ascended ring, but any progress toward a legendary weapon is minimal at this point. I've been looking at the "dragon timers" page that tracks events and attending some of the bigger ones (Shadow Behemoth, Shatterer, Claw of Jormag, etc.) at times. I got a relatively nice exotic staff out of one chest, but even that sold for about 18 gold when a legendary precursor weapon sells for closer to 600. I hover around 34 on my main, so... yeah. I think it'd take some serious dedication and lots of dungeon runs to get anywhere, and I haven't been doing much of that lately.
What else? No new books or games since the last ones commented on. I'm trying to rein in my spending some given the cost of the computer, but naturally other things keep coming up whether I like it or not. I guess that'll do for now. Time to see if I can get myself to clean the bathroom.
