(WoW) Raiding Peek Ahead
The night's raid felt relatively successful to me, if short. We started a little later than ideal, with several regulars delayed by real life.
We went straight into Dragon Soul, getting tripped up a little (but less than usual) on Zon'ozz - downed him on our third try. We lost a couple people on Hagara that we shouldn't have, but carried on through that fight just fine. And we set up to try Ultraxion for the first time. The trash is hectic and we all died, but thankfully after the waves of drakes so we didn't have to do them again. I think I want to suggest more DPS taunt-assistance. Taking possible melee hits isn't fun, but it's the flames everywhere that really kill people.
As I figured, Ultraxion himself comes down to "is everyone in the group using Heroic Will correctly." Any tunnel vision or bad timing will probably kill the individual outright, which makes it less likely the remainder can pull it off. DPS and healers are iffy. If a tank bites it, however, you've got about 20-60 seconds before the other tank either dies or is phased out - either way, the boss immediately starts to chew through DPS characters. And, as pointed out earlier in the night, it sucks that our current raid roster usually only has one battle rez available, and it's one of the tanks (who usually can't pull away to use it). We got in two attempts, both wipes, but people have seen it now, and if we can get everyone to manage the timing, I think it'll be easy enough otherwise. As usual, we need to work on raw execution rather than gear or numbers. I'm having trouble confirming in the logs, but it looked to me like we had him down to 50-60% health well before the halfway mark to the enrage timer, so I think we're okay there. Ultraxion was a major gear/DPS check, but we've had a while to gear up and he's at a 25% debuff at this point anyway, so if we did hit that limit it would be a bad sign.
The real bummer was a couple disconnects by two of our members. I've heard it's most likely an overheating router or something. That slows us down and ended up calling things to a close perhaps earlier than we would have otherwise. So... decent success. And though we didn't play as long and cover as much ground as last week, we're edging forward a little bit.

I welcome any and all suggestions at this point in regards of making the fight easier (Macro the GTFO button?) and for keeping my router cool for the long, hot summer ahead.
ReplyDeleteWell, there is an easy macro on the icy-veins.com page, but whether that helps all depends on the individual. I can't judge that from here, I'm afraid. I do think we'd benefit from some better coordination against Ultraxion trash. Practically all I do in LFR, as DPS, is taunt drakes down. Having one or two people on that duty might be worthwhile unless we find they get splattered. But I think keeping the flames under control would be worth it. I can't offer much on Zon'ozz, though I would like to see a little more space between melee and ranged groups if healing/DPSing allows. Elly usually pulls him a little bit closer than his starting/reset point. If everyone can reach, even a few additional yards would be a little more reaction time and a little more time for the ball to coalesce. But at current ranges, it works as long as people move correctly, so not a big deal. And the router? Uhh... Fan on it? Fan with a bucket of ice? Keep it low, but with airflow around? Dunk in liquid nitrogen? ... Maybe not that last part. >.>
