(WoW) 10/12 and Holding

So this weekend, the Blood Prince Council was still rough - we lost out Keleseth tank toward the end, and I believe two other people before the bosses were put down. Blood Queen Lana'thel, on the other hand, we got down easily on our first attempt before her second air phase in spite of some "errors" in bite transfers.

Sindragosa remains the only boss we haven't downed before between us and the Lich King. We made six attempts, but couldn't quite pull it together. We were getting reliably to the last phase and down to 1.5-2.5 million health, but lost people before we could seal the deal. If our pattern holds, we should be able to get it together next weekend and finish her off.

We've actually saved our progress this time, which leaves Sindra and the plague wing up. If we can down the frost wyrm, we're pretty sure of being able to get down Festergut, Rotface, and Professor Putridice, which would give us access to the Lich King himself. I think there's an anticipation at this point to get to that, even though it's sure to be a heck of a fight in itself. As long as Sindragosa doesn't prove insurmountable (and I don't think she is), we ought to see the final battle in ICC soon.

  1. Sindy's like a dance routine. Move it to the right, then step to the left..

  2. That's not reassuring. How many people danced well against Heigan? ;) Side Note on Sindragosa: I'm still confused a bit by the frost breath debuff. Most debuffs are fairly predictable. This one... really isn't. Either the frost breath isn't on a set timer, or it doesn't always debuff you, or the air phases are not timer-based (are they health-based?). Some attempts, I went through the whole fight without getting 2 stacks of the debuff (at 3+, the move speed reduction starts getting to be a hassle), and other times it racked up fairly quick.

  3. Kind of bothers me too... one mistake (a player not realizing they have the iceblock mark and running out) basically is unrecoverable. And I take it there's no way to avoid the frost aura damage (which seemed to be between 4500 and 6k damage every 2-3 seconds) in phase 3?

  4. Fight mechanics of Sindragosa aside, what I fear is that this guild hasn't done so many repeat visits into places once we've beaten a final boss. I worry that the guild will down the LK in a week where I'm sidelined and then key people will lose interest, leaving us with not enough raiders or a section of people who have no interest in going back into ICC because they've 'done that'.

  5. Frost Aura is constant. The Magic Buffet debuff increases magic damage taken, so it looks like 4500 base frost damage every three seconds, plus 10% per stack of the debuff (minus whatever resistance percentage?).

  6. Well, that's understandable. Umm. I don't have or see any real good answer save to say I don't plan on putting down my shield after getting the Kingslayer achievement. Sadly, 12 bosses is just too much for one night for us, so at some point we need to take what foothold we can get, even if it means only having Lana'thel and (hopefully soon) Sindragosa down once. I sort of wish there were a way to simply skip the first 4 bosses (well, three, until Saurfang coughs up bracers >.>). I'm glad Cataclysm raids seem to be shooting for 5-6 bosses rather than more than ten.

  7. I apparently wasn't too well educated in that mechanic. I think it starts at 3k but obviously goes up from there. Am I the only one that doesn't know about this mechanic? Because it would help tremendously if raid members would get their stacks off them... or were we thinking about doing the strategy of 'WTF let's pwn dragonskull' and dps down before it becomes a factor.

  8. I didn't figure you would, but that's still nice to hear. I wouldn't either... I've said many times I just like doing the group content. I would do Naxx. *shrug* I went through the whole 'gear gear raid raid!' phase and in the end it just pushed me away from the game. It's now just a means to an end.

  9. Well, there was explanation, but there was a lot of explanation. @.@ In phase 1-2 there are different debuffs. Melee picks up a DoT, casters pick up a debuff that stacks, then 'detonates.' And the tank gets to suck frost breath that slows attack/movement speed. In Phase 3, everyone gets the Mystic Buffet Debuff. This increases magic damage taken by 10% per stack. It lasts 8 seconds, she pulses a new stack every 6 seconds. The only way to clear it is to break line of sight with her (presumably center of her hit box) using one of the ice tombs and let it fall off. Everyone needs to do this at some point. Tanks need to swap when they do it, probably accumulating around 4 stacks (give or take) between rotations. Everyone else is a little less set-in-stone, but they do need to keep it from getting stacked too high, whatever "too high" is. That means the ice tombs need to stay up long enough to be used for this, but destroyed fast enough they don't kill the person inside or start piling up on multiple people. I'm having trouble finding exact numbers. WoWwiki lists only one set of abilities, to that's probably based on 25-man. WoWhead... actually shows two Frost Aura abilities listed even under 10-man normal - one for 3k damage and one for 4.5k damage. So it looks like one of those is an error or got changed. Either way, it gets progressively worse with the debuff stacking.
