Rainy and Bleh
I don't actually mind the rain part so much. It beats mid-90-degree heat regularly, and we can use the water.
There was a time I liked and looked forward to Fridays. They mark the functional beginning of the weekend as soon as work ends, and time to do something. Maybe even a day to take off work a couple hours early to enjoy a little more weekend.
Today's "TGIF" comment from a coworker made me think about how that's not really the case anymore. Fridays at work tend to be either ruthlessly hectic or painfully boring - either end of the week is usually one extreme or the other. And when home, Fridays seem to be more frequently nights where people I might play with online are either not around, distracted or turning in early.
Finished watching Book of Bantorra, and I'm still impressed. It's not the highest quality anime series I've seen, and I can see how some people wouldn't like the pacing or events. But the slow reveals and often tragic stories actually suit me fine. And I have to give props to the series for actually answering most of my questions, unlike many I've seen that hold out their answers perhaps in hopes of further seasons.
Naturally, I'm watching news about WoW: Cataclysm as it is revealed. I'm taking everything with a grain of salt so far, because it's in beta testing - even after release, there will probably be changes.
The addition of a new resource to paladins makes me nervous as hell. I understand most of the motivation, but... I suppose my dislike of change is kicking in. We'll see how it actually works in the long run, but it feels like I'm going to have to be totally relearning my primary class and that doesn't really make me happy.
My predictions about a release date were obviously wrong. In fairness, it was based on what was stated at the time that ICC was the final raid release. Instead, they stretched things out by tossing in the Ruby Sanctum. I've not been yet, and I sort of expect to see it before Cata, but three mini-bosses and one boss seem a really, really weak note to go out on. Tsk.
The whole RealID thing wound up about as I expected. And you know what near-universal truth I take from it? People don't like being wrenched from what they're comfortable with, even if it's arguably an improvement. In this case, I would stress "arguably." But let's face it, if this had been introduced when the game/forums initially came out, it would have been no big deal, just the way it is. Some people wouldn't have liked it, but the community would have grown up around that as the norm. Instead, people have come to expect a certain level of anonymity, and taking that away is a painful, painful process.
Things at work have been fairly quiet for me this week, which is disturbing. We have one more week of side-by-side system use for our advertising upgrade, then shift wholly to the new software. I feel like it's the calm before the storm, or the eye of it...
I still don't know what exactly I'll be doing at the end of next week. Just sort of playing that by ear and seeing how I feel. I'm still disinclined to go to a big gathering Saturday, but... I don't know.
Ow... and I seem to have done something to my upper back/neck. :/
