General goings on in games.
Guild Wars
So... after 14 weeks, at one session per week (actually, I think 13 play sessions, as I believe I missed a Sunday in there), my ritualist now has an elite skill that's actually worth using. Yay.
Though, frankly, we blew through the last couple missions so easily that it might not even matter. I seem to remember those as being harder when I took my paragon through with nothing but heroes/henchmen for support.
World of Warcraft
My flower-picking death knight is up to level 75. 77 is a vague goal, to have Northrend flying, but I might wait until patch 3.2 to purchase that in order to save some money, and it won't have that high a level requirement anymore then. Ah well.
I think it was Friday night that I was asked to tank the end of a Culling of Stratholme run in progress. I walked away with a Royal Crest of Lordaeron. It's something of a sidegrade from the Titansteel Shield Wall I'd had since hitting level 80 - trading some Defense for some Hit primarily. After enchanting, I'm still at high enough Defense to be uncrittable, so it was worthwhile. Plus it's one of the neatest looking shields around.
We actually did more than usual on Saturday. 4-man heroic Utgarde Keep. Then we pulled in a hunter looking for a group to do heroic Utgarde Pinnacle. He seemed a pretty cool guy - good attitude and well-geared. We even discussed the possibility of working together between our guilds to do some raiding down the line. At his suggestion, we tried for a mount run in heroic Culling of Stratholme. Not looting the trash, we were actually making very good time. Unfortunately, we got into the gauntlet after the third boss and overextended ourselves by missing the first elite and getting into fighting two or more after that - just enough we got overrun and started dropping. One wipe means not enough time to get back in for the timer and the mount. Ah well. Our druid still walked away with enough emblems of heroism to get the tier 7 Heroes' chestpiece they were after, so it's all good as far as I'm concerned. We even got in a normal Halls of Stone run later for someone who needed it.
I'm looking forward to the patch quite a bit at this point. The "upgrade" to emblems gives some clear reason to run heroics more (whereas most of what I could get with my main would be sidegrades now, at best). It may very well be enough to get me out for PUGs on days when guild runs are unlikely. I'm still looking at getting a set of Spiked Deathdealers crafted, though I'm torn on whether it's better to wait for the patch. Runed Orbs are purchasable with the emblems of conquest, but it takes something like 18 emblems, so I'm not convinced the price will plummet. So far, I haven't seen any signs of better tanking footwear, though I'm sure there will be something that drops from the new raids.

Ah, what to say? Things have been happening here and there, but it's been a frustratingly unproductive week for me. I could chalk that up to part mood, part scheduling, and probably blame other things as well.
The immediate crisis in Tarantis is over. The political fallout is taking a while, I guess. I certainly haven't seen any posts or mention of what's happening on that front. I tried to get in a little RP with the "Ministry" there, but it was cut short. The stuff at the Naipon embassy which, I though, was to involve some sort of theft going on, seemed wrapped up pat as "just a routing error." So that was less interesting and detailed than I expected. The Naipon tournament that I was peripherally involved in seemed to go well and fine. It's a shame there wasn't more player involvement, but it was still fun to see. Of course, now that it's over, it leaves two characters and a few NPCs sorta separated from the main grid of play.
I wasn't directly involved, but the Sheol thing struck me as... a mess. Characters did the good/heroic thing, but they didn't do it smartly (I blame the players/characters). And once into that, they went for a different way out than agreed upon. I'm given to understand that's partly because unforeseen objectives (I blame the GM) were added which stretched the matter beyond player patience. And at least one person even had problems with that way out, though it sounds like they came around eventually. Ugh. Like many events on the MUCK, it seems (to me) that things started out with a decent idea, but were poorly planned and started falling apart, only to wrap up in a lazy/hurried finale.
Pacing thing to maintain interest and still coming up with a good ending isn't easy, I grant.
The "great and mysterious portal TP" is set to begin tonight. I'm still planning to sit that out. Which, of course, means I'll probably be a bit moody about being uninvolved even if I know being involved would probably end up making me downright pissy. Just can't win sometimes.

Due to player work schedule, our Saturday games are on indefinite hold. That's a bit sad, but I also don't mind having actual weekends.
Shadowrun is making slow progress with schedules and sickness and whatever else. I hate to say it, but the game still doesn't seem like it's fully gelled. I'm not sure what else to go into about it that I've not said before...
The Star Wars game continues. Scheduling has similarly caused an impact there, limiting playtime. Still, players seem fairly eager to play and I've not heard any complaints. I take that to be a good thing.

When are we playing SW next? It's looking like I'm taking the kids to swim lessons for at least the next several days so no early starts available, but if I know of a day we're meeting I can probably arrange a swap with my wife on that day.
ReplyDeleteWell, "every other Thursday" is still my default target. So next week unless I hear people up for something sooner.
ReplyDelete^--- up for something sooner :)
