Yeah. Of course, I'm skeptical, too. They've been playing up the whole 'strong storyline personalized based on the character you choose' thing (and apparently there are claims of how it will be the first 'all voiced' MMORPG). That sounds awesome, but in my experience and theorizing, it seems like strong story and interactivity are mutually exclusive in these sorts of games. Now, I've seen how I can be proven wrong in that with the phasing introduced in Wrath, but even then you have problems of being unable to do certain things with people who aren't in the same phase. So... I'm excited at the possibility, but I have yet to comprehend how they're actually going to fill all their growing promises. We'll see in a few years, I guess. ;)
Alas, I'm gonna roll a bounty hunter. Maybe after a while a Light-Side toon of some sort, but for now my love is for the gal with the gadgets. And jet-backpack. And flamethrower.
Shadowrun Returns Not really much more to add, in spite of questions. I've played a few user-created stories and they vary from short, boring, and repetitive, to pretty good - but still short. Borderlands 2 Late to the party, but I picked this up. Random-gear-focused FPS. The cell shading is not my favorite, but doesn't detract too much. The humor of the game is a plus. Handsome Jack is a jerk, but he feels so distant that I find it hard to call him the awesome villain that others seem to think he is. Angel's motivations at the point I'm at really don't make much sense. Overall, it seems fine so far, but isn't going on any "best games ever" list of mine. I may have more to say later on. Guild Wars 2 Urgh. My annoyance with the direction of the game grows. Not only do I dislike the pressures of constant involvement, but the most recent additions/edits to the game (addition of champion rewards, zones in the Queen's Pavilion, and the watchwork ...
It's definitely odd to see so many retail and office spaces closed downtown. Wrrf. Even businesses that are open are going to be suffering from all this. About the only places I can think of that aren't going to take a major downturn in revenue may be shipping and grocery stores - and that assumes they aren't directly hit by infection issues. Steven Universe came to a full end this last week. Appropriately enough for a series that dealt heavily with relationships, identity, and helping people work through their problems, the final arc leaned heavily into Steven himself needing to find his way. It felt a little too simple for me, though. I feel like it may be unfair of me to say, considering this is a series in which many things span beyond the 15 (10?)-minute episode run time. Many issues have been resolved quicker than they probably "should" have been. I'm not sure if maybe it's just because it feels close to home, but shining a light on Steven's ...
So, yeah, I'm terrible at keeping up with between-session conversations and all the piles of possible channels/servers in Discord - especially when work gives me some time to think, but not Discord access. I believe a question was posed about thoughts on the state and future of the Adventures in Rokugan game, though, so here goes... In general, I'm enjoying the time and look forward to it more than feel burdened by it. The start time is a little earlier than ideal, but I don't mind making it work on Saturdays. So, net positive overall. I'm a touch "meh" on the mechanics of AiR. I like the familiarity of D&D, but the Rokugan-specific stuff doesn't feel very rewarding. Granted, this may just be my pick of a shadow acolyte, but I feel like I'm getting more functional mileage out of the sharpshooter feat than all of the special class abilities and level-ups haven't been particularly exciting. I've been tempted to multi-class into something els...
Dang, looks like some Jedi are getting jacked there. This could be an MMO I'd try.
