"Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold"
Our Exalted game encounters another stumbling block.
So entry into Xian's manse was easy. The way to the portal, however, was barred by a few Sidereals. As I recall, Kujath blasted at least one pretty good, and Xian debuffed them. One hit Nightlily pretty good with some Sidereal Martial Arts-induced disease. This rather pissed Alexandra off. She actually cut loose a bit and knocked one of them out of the building the hard way:
Alexandra shakes her head. "I have had it with you and your factions," Alexandra declares, turning and striding toward the Sidereal that attacked Nightlily. "Gold, Bronze - you both stand in the way of us taking up our destiny once more, our purpose to protect Creation. You quibble over politics while people suffer and lands are lost to the Wyld and the Underworld. Now, you even have the gall to defy your own Maidens. We may once have strayed from the Unconquered Sun's light before, but your kind have lost your way just as certainly. Now our feet are once more set upon the proper path and if you seek to stop us, you shall find who is righteous." Full of said righteous purpose, her pace increases as she advances until she launches herself at the Sidereal unfortunate enough to be in her way. In the instant before impact, her arms are wreathed in fiery golden essence with wisps of black. Even the Exalted find it hard to follow the girl's flurry of attacks - an elbow to the gut beneath his staff, an uppercut... one motion flowing into the next with literally inhuman speed. Blows that could devastate buildings slam into the man, one after another. Then she spins and strikes again, snarling, "Enough of this!" Her open palm smashes into his chest to send him sailing across the room and into the opposing wall with a distinct crunch. Through the entire onslaught, there's an unsettling feeling that she's actually holding back.
The girl straightens up, stance still ready as she addresses the others Sidereals. "If you are not going to help restore Creation and Yu Shan to something sensible and healthy, stay out of our way." If that weren't enough, though essence dances around her hands from a charm used, her caste mark isn't even visible.
The Siddies left after that, leaving the way clear back to Gem to regroup, heal Nightlily (Vee has a sickness-sucking technique), and reuniting with those who remained behind.
We would have picked up tonight to plan our trip to Thorns, but we were lacking Selina's player again. Some discussion between them and the GM means Selina will be exitting the stage in the game due to an inability to regularly attend. I wish I could say that's a surprise. Worse yet, there was some further discussion, and Kujath is going to go with her ICly, taking away another of our 'founding' members in the Circle, to be replaced by a new character. Which means more building of trust with a new PC and... ergh. Presumably play will continue next week...

Game's over.
ReplyDeleteO.o Don't think I'd go that far.
ReplyDeleteWe've a long way to go yet. Nina's come up with a new character she's quite interested in, talked it over with Cat, who is fine with it, and even tied it into Cat's past, Fox's aware of the concept and finds it... interesting. So we're far from done. The group is fairly adaptable, and Aaron's quite happy that I've left an opening for his character to come back in the future (which means Kujath can come back then, too).
