Away from Home for the Holiday?

Heh. And, in opposition to yesterday's post, today is actually pretty nice and warm out. Granted, it's still an autumn warmth - subtle chill to the air, but strong sun.

It's starting to look like I may be off visiting relatives around Christmas. My parents are talking about driving down to Florida to visit Susan's mom, and going by my uncle and aunt's in Mississippi along the way, then flying me back afterward so I'm not away for too long. It would still be something around a week probably.

On the up side... hey, vacation! And if one is to visit Florida, winter is the time to do it. It would also be good to see some of these folks I haven't in a long time (15-20 years?).
On the other hand, I'm not looking forward to cramped travel over many hours. I'm not real sociable and fully expect to have many questions asking about why I haven't gone back to school, gotten married, and/or had kids. And, due to such little contact, I don't feel a lot of connection to my southeastern kin. I'm also just a little uncomfortable at merely being away from home for the holiday.

It's not a done deal at this point, but it sounds like it's probably going to happen. S'pose we'll see.
