Silver Pass IX (or lack thereof)

So, yeah, I missed the event entirely in the end. Between a general lack of interest on my part and the amount of rain falling through Friday night and Saturday, this isn't a great surprise. I almost feel bad about it... almost. I did, however, get a medal even in my absence - something presenting to 'founding' members of the shire, I'm given to understand. I really wish I could say I felt good about that. I didn't. I still don't. Instead, it merely reinforces my belief that SCA awards are... screwy to put it mildly. Such is life. Then, after three reasonably-pleasant days off, I get to come back to work to find our connection to the Journal to be going up and down constantly...

Creamy goodness

I didn't think I'd see the day. First, we start getting local deliveries of Krispy Kreme donuts (not as good as fresh-made, but still pretty tasty). Now we have a Cold Stone Creamery. Gosh, maybe we could end up with a Tim Horton's someday...

Service Pack 2 (Windows XP), round 1

Thusfar, I am not impressed. At work, I was dealing with my first computer that said "Hey, you can install SP2 now" rather than "Hey, would you like to slowly download SP2 over the course of weeks in order to install eventually." So, I tried it. After waiting through the download, it started its install routine. Fine, fine. Maybe fifteen minutes later, I looked over and the screen was blank. The computer's power light was on, but that's it - no signal to the monitor, no fans in the case moving. So, I made sure it was off, turned it back on, and it complained about the update not completing. Well... yeah. Tried again. Same thing. So now I'm removing it there and putting thoughts of updates aside for a while. @whee
